There’s only explanation for Trump’s pivot to Putin from Ukraine. He visualizes his Presidency as a step to a world order dominated and dictated by three strongmen – Trump, Putin and Xi. Although Xi and Putin will never give Trump the power he wants, they’ll manipulate him to their advantage along the way, and America will suffer.
It’s already working. Trump is joining his idols in their its efforts to supplant the US-dominated world order with one that gives them the power and leverage to write the rules and bully other countries.
Please don’t default to calling this another conspiracy theory.
Why else is Trump handing Ukraine to Putin and giving him a greenlight to invade NATO members. As former US Secretaries of State and Defense, Condoleezza Rice and Robert Gates warned, “ If … Ukraine is defeated, Russia will almost certainly … attack NATO member countries.” Lithuania, Latvia or Estonia are likely to be Putin’s first target. Just like Ukraine, they were all parts of the Soviet Union and are home to around a million ethnic Russians.
Why else has Trump:
- Paused American warnings of Russian ballistic missile attacks.
- Not approved the delivery of Patriot missile interceptors and AIM-9X missiles that NATO has paid for.
- Threatened to restrict intelligence sharing if Ukraine continued attacking Russian oil refineries.
- Threatened to cut intelligence sharing and weapons supplies for Ukraine if Zelensky doesn’t agree to Putin’s outrageous demands for peace, including:
- An “expectation” but not a promise that Russia won’t invade NATO members,
- That Ukraine will not join NATO,
- Most egregious: that European security be funded and defended only by Europe and not the United States,
- That Crimea and Donbas be recognized as part of Russia, giving it sovereignty over 23% of Ukraine,
- That Ukraine hold elections in100 days, likely enabling Putin to install a puppet government,
- That Western military aid to Kyiv be halted during a 30-day cease fire, making it open season on Ukraine,
- That Ukraine will become politically neutral,
- That the agreement’s implementation and enforcement will be chaired by, you guessed it, Donald Trump, which will give Putin actual control,
Why else did Trump:
- Restrict Ukraine’s access to Star Shield to impede its ability to identify incoming Russian ballistic missile attacks,
- Lift restrictions on Russian fuel exports to permit diesel sales that will generate enough money to continue Russia’s war against Ukraine. Although Trump claimed his aim was to lower the cost of diesel fuel to America, a bipartisan group of Senators warned that Russia’s exports would provide little or no diesel price relief to America,
- Put on hold sweeping new sanctions targeting the Russian economy,
- Blame Ukraine President Zelensky for Putin’s invasion of his country,
- Call for Zelensky’s ouster and replacement with a new Ukraine negotiator.
If you need more evidence that Trump wants to join Putin and Xi in seeking world dominance, consider this:
Putin and Xi are continuing the charade of including Trump in their plan to seek global influence.
Putin proposed a three-way summit with himself, Trump and Xi purportedly to discuss Ukraine’s future. But the Wall Street Journal reported that Putin has broader ambitions. He wants “a new great-power arrangement in which the United States, Russia and China recognize distinct spheres of influence,” although Xi and Putin won’t ultimately give Trump a piece of that power.
Trump told reporters that he’s ready to sit down with Putin and Xi in Shenzhen — apparently a modern-day Yalta conference where the United States, Great Britain and the Soviet Union divided postwar Europe into different spheres of influence.
Even the ultra-conservative National Review warned that Trump is giving “aid and comfort to Putin,” with the ultra-conservative Federalist Society’s Andrew McCarthy imploring Congress to investigate the new Trump-Putin alliance.
As President Ronald Reagan warned, the Soviets are “the evil empire.” “We win, they lose” because peaceful coexistence with an enemy committed to our destruction is too precarious a prospect.”
Tragically, though, Americans will be the victims of Trump’s futile pursuit to join Putin and Xi in seeking global dominance.
