Trump Taps RFK Jr. to Lead Health Department

Trump picked RFK Jr. to head the Department of Health and Human Services. He’s not a doctor and has no medical training. Worse, he’s an avid anti-vaxxer who grossly exaggerates the side effects of Covid vaccines and discourages their use even though the unvaccinated are 68 times more likely to die from COVID than the fully vaccinated. RFK Jr. also vowed to purge entire departments at HSS if necessary to employ his priorities. And he won’t stop with Covid. He discouraged the use of measles vaccines during an outbreak in Samoa, and 83 people died. In 2023, UNICEF reported a 30 percent decline in confidence in childhood vaccines in South Africa after the Covid-19 pandemic. It was the world’s “largest sustained backslide in childhood immunization in 30 years.” UNICEF blamed the “growing access to misleading information. If Trump’s spineless Republican Senators confirm RFK, Jr. they will be knowingly complicit in the deaths and diseases resulting from Trump’s and RFK, Jr’s knowing and pernicious actions.
