Trump has scared Senate Republicans into confirming the most unqualified and dangerous cabinet nominees in our history and subjected Americans to serious risks, including:
- Death: Senate Republicans knew that the death rate among those vaccinated against Covid was 5 times lower than among the unvaccinated. Yet they risked American lives by confirming anti-vaxxer JFK Jr. to lead the Health Department. He now plans to pull Covid vaccines off the market and look at other vaccines for the same fate.
- Nuclear Risk: It took the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Mark Milley, to stop Trump from misusing America’s nuclear arsenal in the last month of his first presidency. There’s reason to worry. Trump is unstable and has a pattern of making decisions triggered by anger regarding events unrelated to America’s needs. And there will be no Milley there to stop him next time, only Trump’s Defense Secretary – an alcoholic sex offender who wouldn’t discourage Trump from doing anything he wants to.
- Security Risks: Shockingly, but not surprisingly, Republican Senators confirmed Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence. She favors Russia’s views of world events, parroted Russian propaganda justifying Putin’s invasion into Ukraine, blamed the U.S. and NATO for provoking Russia’s invasion, falsely blamed the U.S. for the bombing of the Nord Stream pipeline, and became the darling of the Kremlin’s state media that reported that Ukrainians consider her “an agent of the Russian state.” As far as U.S intelligence goes, advantage Russia and any other country Gabbard cozies up to.
- Risks From Corruption: Trump’s corruption is bound to lead to economic instability and the collapse of public services, such as healthcare and education and maintaining our infrastructure, as it consistently has in many other countries. He’s by far the most corrupt American President ever. He’s taken eleven actions to eliminate anti-corruption guardrails and create the perfect environment for more graft, and influence-peddling. He’s made $3.4 billion from his time as President by swapping America’s security and credibility for personal profit on many occasions.
- DISABLING THE 2-PARTY SYSTEM ON THE WAY TO A DICTATORSHIP: The FBI, has been replaced with Trump’s private law enforcement cabal which is using its agents to punish Trump’s enemies. His choice of Kash Patel to head the agency, confirmed by Senate Republicans, openly declared that he’ll use FBI agents for retribution against Trump’s enemies and purge the FBI of agents that don’t cooperate.
The FBI’s investigations of crimes have led to the arrest of millions of criminals and prevented millions more crimes. But Patel will sacrifice that to retribution, and real crime will run amok. - NO GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABILITY — ANOTHER REPUBLICAN CONTRIBUTION TO DICTATORSHIP:
The Attorney General decides whom to prosecute. Trump’s Attorney General, Pam Bondi, confirmed by Senate Republicans, has given Trump and his deputies her own brand of immunity. Bondi dissolved the Special Counselinvestigation into whether Trump and associates coordinated with Russian interference in the 2016 election. And when Trump was indicted four times after leaving office, Bondi was blunt about who deserved legal scrutiny — and it wasn’t Trump, it was the FBI agents who investigated him.
One has to ask, how could America let one man dismantle the structure America’s government? There’s a two-part answer: First, Trump successfully threatened and convinced Congressional Republicans that if they don’t do his bidding, he will back a primary challenger against them.
Second, those Republicans put keeping their seats above their Constitutional oaths to faithfully discharge their duties of the office, which include the duty to consider the qualifications of presidential nominees to determine if they’re qualified. Instead they confirmed the most unqualified and dangerous cabinet in American history.
My bet is if they continue to enable Trump, they’ll be replaced by a Republican who’s not a slave to Trump or by a Democrat in the national election.
